Metamorphosis

Rieder Metamorphosis

Integrative transformation process

Innovation through new material combinations, digitalization, the radical reduction of waste and the extension of the useful life of products and buildings are the driving forces in our transition to become a climate-positive company in seven years. Simply put, this means offsetting more CO₂ than we emit.

Value-driven collaboration

Part of the cultural mission of Rieder is to support designers, artists, and architects in their creative work. It inspires us when designers and artists work together with us and our material, fibreC glassfibre reinforced concrete. Through the creative input and the solutions we develop together with architects and artists, our facade product is optimized as well.

The collaboration with the artist Ron Terada helped Rieder to position glassfibre reinforced concrete not only as a classic facade, but above all to highlight the design character of the material. One of his visual poetries – STAY AWAY FROM LONELY PLACES – keeps cropping up in connection with Rieder. What is it about? Ron Terada uses it to draw attention to certain architectural spaces. We humans have a keen sense for places. None of us wants to visit places that have a bad atmosphere. It should therefore be our joint aim to create positive spaces, and this is what Rieder wants to achieve with its glassfibre reinforced concrete products.

Hybrid Innovation

Systematization and prefabrication: Over the last 17 years, Rieder has developed from a product provider to a solution provider for complex facades. The systematization and a high degree of prefabrication in construction projects, such as promoting a modular approach from concrete to wood, enable a resource-efficient, time-saving and sustainable solution for people as well as the environment. Rieder experiments with wood, combines old with new and explores new directions. That's what drives innovation.

R2R

Carbon positivity

With a catalogue of measures and a concrete roadmap, the company is working on producing and operating with a CO₂-positive balance by 2030. Rieder carried out a sustainability analysis and found that in 2019 it emitted around 7,100 tons of CO₂ annually. Through a variety of initiatives (1/3 substitution, 1/3 efficient processes, 1/3 offset measures) it was possible to significantly reduce total CO₂ emissions in 2021 to around 4,515 tonnes. Rieder voluntarily prepared a Green Report in accordance with the GRI Standard (Sustainability Reporting Guidelines).
