Modernising Austria’s infrastructure
The new Koralmbahn line is one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects: 130 kilometres of new track, 50 kilometres of tunnels and over 100 bridges will soon connect Styria and Carinthia quickly and safely. At the heart of it: Rieder’s facade solutions. The architectural firm Zechner & Zechner relied on our durable, low-maintenance elements for several stations and operational buildings.
As part of section 50.3 of the Koralmbahn in St. Paul, a significant contribution was made to the architectural quality along the new southern route. Approximately 3,000 m² of öko skin slats in sandstone and 2,000 m² of concrete skin panels in anthracite were used for the facade.
The combination of natural colours and robust materials ensures a harmonious integration into the Carinthian landscape. At the same time, the durable, low-maintenance facade elements meet the highest standards of functionality and sustainability. The building thus combines modern infrastructure with contemporary design and environmental responsibility. Photos: Ditz Fejer
