Large format panels made of glassfibre reinforced concrete

The high-performance panels are only 13 mm thick and come in a variety of colours, surfaces and textures, offering a wide range of design options for facades. The concrete skin in combination with the formparts stretch over buildings, corners and edges just like skin. This creates a unique material flow.

Characteristics

  • concrete skin withstands extreme loads with enormous panel sizes. Due to their robust properties, the panels are weather-resistant and have a long service life.

  • The format is freely configurable up to the maximum sizes. Individual shapes, colours, surfaces, and perforations offer numerous possibilities for architects.

  • Since the enormous panel sizes mean that there is no need to interrupt the material, there is a wide range of possible applications and shapes. concrete skin is unique in that it can be used to give the impression that a building was constructed in one piece and allows the material to appear in its purity.

  • Products made of fibreC guarantee absolute fire resistance: fire rating A1 - “non-combustible“ approx. according to BBA Agrément Certificate 16/5362 for Great Britain and A2-s1,d0 - “non-combustible“ approx. according to abZ Nr. Z-31.4.166 for Germany.

  • With its ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, Rieder sets itself high standards for environmental protection. The environmental product declaration, EPD, gives precise indicators for the life cycle assessment.

  • In building certification systems such as DGNB, LEED and BREEAM, buildings with Rieder products achieve the highest standards.

Design

With its well curated range of colours, bricky, timber, pietra and greyscale, Rieder offers a selection of coordinated shades to create the most authentic facades possible in harmony with nature and their surroundings. The different surfaces, textures and formats lend the building envelope vibrancy and depth and give architects free reign for their ideas. Colour variations within a colour tone are intended and enhance the liveliness of the building material, concrete. Each colour is available in the surfaces ferro, ferro light and matt. Inspired by the traditional construction method, using wood, natural stone and brick, the new colour collections have been created.

Installation

Rieder facade cladding is designed as a mounted, ventilated facade in accordance with DIN 18516-1. This construction method, which distinguishes between thermal insulation and weather protection, is not only advantageous from the point of view of building physics, but also allows the creation of a variety of effects with different types of cladding. Attention must be paid to correct rear ventilation.

Formparts

Due to its plasticity, concrete skin can be run in combination with formparts smoothly over corners and edges. This creates a unique flow of material.

Small gaps in the large glassfibre reinforced concrete panels create a partial view of the surroundings. This results in an interesting interplay between transparency and cladding. Appropriate lighting or solar radiation creates an interesting interaction between light and shade in the direct surroundings. Perforated panels can be used in a variety of ways – as a partition, sun protection or design element.

Transformation from waste to design – To reduce waste in the production of facade elements made of glassfibre reinforced concrete and to further pursue the zero-waste strategy, Rieder has developed a new product: the pixel, a small-format concrete shingle measuring 147 x 240 millimetres. Due to their small size, the elements open up entirely new design options for innovative building envelopes.

CO₂-positive by 2030: RiEder is pressing ahead with its decarbonisation efforts with a variety of measures. Since 2019, CO₂ emissions were reduced by 35%. To draw up the guiding principles for its transition to a climate-positive company, Rieder is not just taking into consideration its own existing buildings, but also engaging with the topics of recycling and sustainable circular economy. The smaller the carbon footprint, the more Rieder improves architecture.
